PROJECT :
A mecca of classical music in Geneva, Victoria Hall pays tribute to great composers… exclusively male.
Yet, there is no shortage of female composers who are contemporary to these illustrious masters. For one evening, the Les Inoubliables festival and the City of Geneva joined forces to reveal to the general public some key figures of a musical heritage that has been too long overlooked during the Matrimoine Day, which focused on architecture.
Thanks to a mapping project created by Geneva artist Sophie Le Meillour, the names of female composers illuminated the façade of Victoria Hall. At the same time, historical presentations by Amelia Feuer, as well as a unique mini-concert by harpist Laudine Dard, allowed visitors to discover the careers and works of these artists who have remained in the shadows for too long.
