Sophie Le Meillour is a transmedia visual artist. Born in 1988 in Toulouse, she grew up on the Breton doormat. At 18, she studied for 2 years in Paris, before moving to Geneva in 2009.

► Digital art and textures inspired by the natural world are at the heart of her universe. Her work challenges traditional artistic dichotomies: organic vs. artificial and analog art vs. digital.

► She experiences the prism of the image; from line to movement, from small to large, from flat to volume, she plays with scales, spaces and architecture. Her creations can take the form of drawings, photos, videos, installations, virtual reality and even ceramics. She develops an immersive and dreamlike work of her own, which she confronts and likes to tie to the work of other artists and performing arts disciplines.

► A graduate of HEAD in visual communication, she explores the different layers of our aesthetic perception of the living world, collects images here and during her travels, which she then transforms into an original visual experiences.

► With her video projection, Sophie has performed in many countries such as in Ecuador, Chile, Australia, Germany, Switzerland, France, Belgium, Turkey, Netherlands, Kenya, Tanzania, USA, Canada.

► In 2017, she joined TELOMERES STUDIO, a collective exploring new media through technologic tools, based in Geneva. Their first project, “APOPTOSE”, an experimental 360 ° short film for a projection dome adapted to VR. In 2017, it won the Best Short Film by Swissnex Boston and GIFF Festival. It has since been shown at Swissnex China, HeK Museum Basel and Flux Laboratory in Geneva. In 2020, they did a month’s residency at BIOTECH, the Geneva neuroscience campus.

► In 2018, she joined the ATRAP collective with the mural artist Robin Kowalewsky from Berlin. ATRAP oscillates between analog and digital, combining muralism with projection mapping. They exhibited in Berlin, Brussels and Geneva and Santiago de Chile between 2018 and 2022.

► Sophie gave talks in Boston, Melbourne, Zurich, Paris and Geneva. Currently, the visual artist gives workshops on mapping software and Vjing in several media design schools. In 2020, she joined the members of the Mapping Festival in Geneva.

► With the pandemic, Sophie has been working since November 2020 as a volunteer on the new “MATER Fondazione” video campaign which gives 200 free meals every day in Geneva for people in need. The project created by Italian cooker Walter El Nagar is in collaboration with Pavillon, Jimmy Thiebauld, Marilou Rose Jarry, Pascal Viscardi

Sophie Le Meillour est une artiste visuelle transmédia. Née en 1988 à Toulouse, elle grandit sur le paillasson Breton. À 18 ans elle étudie 2 ans à Paris avant de s’installer à Genève en 2009.

► L’art numérique et les textures inspirées du monde naturel sont au cœur de son univers. Son travail remet en question les dichotomies artistiques traditionnelles : organique vs artificiel et art analogique vs numérique.

► Elle expérimente le prisme de l’image ; de la ligne au mouvement, du petit au grand, de l’aplat au volume, elle joue avec les échelles, les espaces et l’architecture. Ses créations peuvent prendre la forme de dessins, de photos, de vidéos, d’installations, de réalité virtuelle et même de céramiques.

► Diplômée de la Haute école d’art et de Design de Genève (HEAD) en communication visuelle, elle explore les différentes strates de notre perception esthétique du monde vivant, collecte des images ici et lors de ses voyages, qu’elle transforme ensuite en expériences visuelles originales.

► Avec ses projections, Sophie s’est produite dans de nombreux pays comme en Équateur, Chili, Australie, Allemagne, Suisse, France, Belgique, Turquie, aux Pays-Bas, Kenya, Tanzanie, États-Unis, Canada.

► En 2017, elle rejoint TELOMERES STUDIO, ce collectif explorant les nouveaux médias à travers les outils numériques, basé à Genève.

Leur premier projet, “APOPTOSE”, un court métrage expérimental à 360 ° pour un dôme de projection adapté à la RV. En 2017, il a remporté le prix du meilleur court métrage par Swissnex Boston et le festival GIFF.

Il a depuis été présenté à Swissnex China, au HeK Museum Basel et au Flux Laboratory à Genève. En 2020, ils ont effectué une résidence d’un mois à BIOTECH, le campus genevois des neurosciences.

► En 2018, elle a rejoint le collectif ATRAP avec l’artiste mural Robin Kowalewsky de Berlin. ATRAP oscille entre l’analogique et le numérique, combinant muralisme et projection mapping. Ils ont exposé à Berlin, Bruxelles et Genève et à Santiago du Chili entre 2018 et 2022.

► Sophie a donné des conférences à Boston, Melbourne, Zurich, Paris et Genève.

► Actuellement, l’artiste visuelle donne des workshop sur les logiciels de mapping et le Vjing dans plusieurs écoles de design média. En 2020, elle a rejoint les membres du Mapping Festival à Genève.

► Avec la pandémie, Sophie travaille depuis novembre 2020 en tant que bénévole sur la nouvelle campagne vidéo “MATER Fondazione” qui donne 200 repas gratuits chaque jour à Genève pour les personnes dans le besoin. Le projet créé par le cuisinier italien Walter El Nagar est en collaboration avec Pavillon, Jimmy Thiebauld, Marilou Rose Jarry, Pascal Viscardi.
